Wendell George Brown, Assistant Professor of Art at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, received his B.F.A., in Fibers / Crafts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland and his M.F.A., in Painting / Sculpture from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Through processes that include painting, quilting, sculpting, printing and the use of spirited text Brown addresses -- while making use of family photographs, African American and Art history -- the human long-established ideas for survival and triumph in the face of racism, sexism, poverty and alienation.
